Expect Everything

Building on the results achieved by the campaign "Science: it's a girl thing!", the campaign Expect Everything addresses the challenge of bringing more teenagers, especially girls of 13-18 years old, into STEM careers both in schools and as a choice of learning and career in the future. The campaign aims at changing the ways sciences are communicated to young people in and out of school to make them more gender inclusive.

HypatiaThe European project, Hypatia, addresses the challenge of gathering different societal actors around the topic. Through a partnership with Scientix, the project will especially address teachers. To this end, Hypatia will produce an accessible, practical and ready-to-use digital collection of modules aimed at teenagers that will be used by teachers but also by informal learning organisations, research institutions and industry.

The modules available in English and other EU languages on the Hypatia website from autumn 2016, have a central focus on gender-inclusive ways of communicating STEM, empowering teenagers and exploring the range of skills that are needed for a great variety of STEM studies and careers. They include descriptions of the activities to be carried out with teenagers inside but also outside of the classroom, guidelines for facilitation and guidelines on gender inclusion. Hypatia hubs present in 14 European Countries gather all relevant stakeholders at the national level and will provide additionally a sustainable basis for these activities to be carried on the long term.
